Meningeal fibrosis/constrictive myelopathy is caused by fibrous tissue developing within the dura mater leading to compression of the spinal cord.
Age of Onset: 3-12 years of age
Sex Predisposition: ​Males are more likely to be affected
Clinical Course:
​
Clinical signs worsen initially and continue to progress or become static
Clinical Signs:
Movement
Ataxia
Gait abnormalities
Paresis to plegia

Proprioception
Proprioceptive defects

Special Reflexes (e.g. cutaneous trunci)
Absent panniculus reflex (severe)

Special Functions (e.g. respiration; urination)
Fecal incontinence
Urinary incontinence

Pain Sensation
Spinal pain​
Spinal cord - variable
