Episodic mandibular tremors are rapid transient tremors of the mandible, commonly seen as teeth chattering in dogs.
Age of Onset: Middle age to older dogs (Greater than 3 years of age)
Sex Predisposition: Any sex of animal can be affected
Clinical Course:
​Clinical signs typically do not progress and are episodic and of short-duration (Less than 1 minute). Episodes seem to increase in intensity by yawning, eating, or performing any activity associated with opening the mouth. In between episodes, dogs have no other neurologic abnormalities.
Clinical Signs:
Behavioral/Mental Awareness
Lip smacking may accompany the tremor in some dogs
