Sensory ganglioradiculoneuritis is a disease of adult dogs that present often with an acute onset and slowly progressive gait disorder due to disorder of neurons carrying information regarding general proprioception.
Age of Onset: Greater than 8 years of age
Sex Predisposition: Any sex of animal can be affected
Clinical Course:
​Clinical signs often present acutely and worsen over the course of several months
Clinical Signs:
Movement
Ataxia
Dysmetria (pelvic limbs > thoracic limbs)
Excessive over-flexion of limbs
Tetraparesis

Proprioception
Proprioceptive deficits

Cranial Nerves
Facial hypalgesia
Reduced palpebral reflex

Spinal Reflexes
Reduced/absent patellar reflexes
Crossed extensor reflex 

Special Functions (e.g. respiration; urination)
Difficult prehension
Dysphagia
Megaesophagus


Pain Sensation
Reduced nociception
Diffuse central and peripheral nervous system (sensory tracts and nerves)
