Myopathy (Congenital)
Myopathies are a diverse group of disorders affecting skeletal muscle.
Age of Onset: 10-12 week
Sex Predisposition: Males are almost exclusively affected
Clinical Course:
Clinical signs worsen over the course of several months. Disease onset initially begins with ptyalism and progresses to generalized weakness and a stiffening gait.

Clinical Signs:
Movement
“Stiff” hind limb gait
Overextension of the carpus
Resistance to extension of the neck
Cranial Nerves
Firm tongue on palpation
Difficulty opening the jaw
Spinal Reflexes
Decreased patellar reflex
Special Functions (e.g. respiration; urination)
Drooling
Vomiting
Muscle Atrophy
Generalized muscle atrophy
