Sensory trigeminal neuropathy is a rare peripheral neuropathy that only affects the sensory function of the trigeminal nerve while sparing the motor function.
Age of Onset: 2 years of age
Sex Predisposition: Any sex of animal can be affected
Clinical Course:
​Clinical signs present acutely, but do not appear to worsen over time.
Clinical Signs:
Cranial Nerves
Facial hypalgesia
Absent palpebral reflex
Absent corneal sensation


Special Functions (e.g. respiration; urination)
Difficulty with prehension
Drooling

Pain Sensation
Reduced nociception of the face

Other
Coughing
Halitosis
Tongue ulceration
Cranial nerve- Trigeminal nerve, trigeminal ganglion
