Distal symmetrical polyneuropathies are chronic progression neurologic diseases resulting from dysfunction of peripheral motor neurons. ​
Age of Onset: 1.5 - 4 years of age
Sex Predisposition: Any sex of animal can be affected
Clinical Course:
​Clinical signs worsen over time, slowly progressing from paraparesis to tetraparesis
Clinical Signs:
Movement
Paraparesis to tetraparesis
Ataxia
Crouched, waddling gait

Spinal Reflexes
Hyporeflexia
Hypotonia

Muscle Atrophy
Atrophy of distal appendicular muscles​
Peripheral nerves​
