note- diseases are listed in alphabetical order not in order of prevalence or significance
*The Podengo is divided into three size categories that are not interbred: small (Pequeno), medium (Médio) and large (Grande). Only the Portugese Pequeno is recognized as a seperate breed by the AKC.
