Atlantoaxial compressive bands are focal constrictive lesions at the level of C1-C2 consisting of inflammatory cells and fibrotic tissue. Areas of mineralization, osseous metaplasia, or both, may also present as well. These lesions have also been associated with syringohydromyelia in some animals as well.
Age of Onset: ​5 - 12 years of age
Sex Predisposition: Any sex of animal can be affected
