Concurrent leukoencephalomyelitis and polyneuritis is an autoimmune disease of the central and peripheral nervous system that results in demyelination and inflammation of the white matter of the central and peripheral nervous system. It has been noted that this disease process bears resemblance to combined central and peripheral demyelination (CCPD) in humans.
Age of Onset: Less than 1 year of age
Sex Predisposition: Any sex of animal can be affected
Clinical Course:
Clinical signs progress over time. Suspected to start in the CNS with secondary involvement of the PNS.
Clinical Signs:
Behavioral/Mental Awareness
Disorientation
Voice changes

Movement
Progressive ataxia

Proprioception
Paraparesis progressing to tetraparesis

Cranial Nerves
Dysphagia

Muscle Atrophy
Atrophy of the cricothyroid and quadriceps femoris​
White matter of the central and peripheral nervous system
