Congenital nystagmus is a resting pendular nystagmus (occurring in equal speeds in both directions of eye movement). In Belgian Groenendael dogs, this congenital nystagmus results due to a developmental defect preventing the decussation of optic axons at the optic chiasm.
Age of Onset: Clinical signs are present at birth
Sex Predisposition: Any sex of animal can be affected
