Distal symmetrical polyneuropathies are chronic progression neurologic diseases resulting from dysfunction of peripheral motor neurons.
Age of Onset: 1.5-5 years of age
Sex Predisposition: Any sex of animal can be affected
Clinical Course:
​Clinical signs worsen over time progressing from paraparesis to tetraparesis.
Clinical Signs:
Movement
Paraparesis to tetraparesis

Proprioception
Postural reaction deficit in all limbs

Spinal Reflexes
Hyporeflexia

Muscle Atrophy
Bilateral masticatory muscle atrophy
Atrophy of distal appendicular muscles​
Peripheral nerves
