Multisystem neuronal degeneration is an inherited progressive neurodegenerative disorder of the central nervous system.
Age of Onset: 5-7 months of age
Sex Predisposition: Any sex of animal can be affected
Clinical Course:
​Clinical signs worsen over the course of several months, signs often worsen with exercise
Clinical Signs:
Movement
Progressive araparesis to tetraparesis
Hypermetria

Intention tremors
Ataxia
Sudden cataplectic episodes (episodes of generalized atonia/hypotonia)

Wide-based stance

Proprioception

Proprioceptive deficits

Cranial Nerves
Absent menace response bilaterally
Head tilt

Spinal Reflexes
Reduced patellar reflexes
Reduced withdrawal reflexes
Increased appendicular muscle tone


Special functions (e.g. respiration; urination)
Fecal incontinence
Urinary incontinence
Diffuse central nervous system
