Myopathies are a diverse group of disorders affecting skeletal muscles.
Age of Onset: Less than one year of age
Sex Predisposition: Any sex of animal can be affected
Clinical Course:
​Clinical signs worsen over time
Clinical Signs:
Behavioral/Mental Awareness
Reluctant to walk (would walk a few steps and then would stop and sit down)

Posture and Appearance
Ventroflexion of the neck

Movement
Weakness of thoracic limb and truncal muscles
Abnormal gait
Tremors of the limbs when standing

Cranial Nerves
Weak palpebral reflex

Spinal Reflexes
Decreased spinal reflexes

Muscle Atrophy
Generalized muscle atrophy
Contracture of carpal flexor muscles

Other
Decreased cardiac function
Megaesophagus
